Renault
Renault is a French manufacturer of automobiles, commercial vehicles and race cars.
Not to be confused with Renault Trucks, a company engaged in the manufacture of commercial vehicles, light and heavy.
Currently the French government owns 15.7% of the company. Renault is a private company which was directed by Louis Schweitzer from 1992 to 2005, when he was relieved by Carlos Ghosn, formerly director of Nissan. A small percentage (1.2%) still belongs to the family Pefaure (mainly based in Argentina).
Renault has a 44.4% stake in Nissan (voting). Nissan in turn owns 15% of Renault shares (without voting rights). Renault and Nissan are now "the Alliance", which is distinguished from other unions in companies that the two members are committed to maintain their independence.
Renault also owns Renault Samsung Motors and Dacia, forming three "Group Renault."
For its part, retains a minority shareholding of Volvo Group (20% of shares) controlling Renault Trucks, While the Volvo car division was subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, owned since 2010 to China's Geely Automobile.
